Set up for the Workshop-period (April 3 - 9)
1. Preliminary to the workshop a site will be designed.
2. The site will contain contributions of every artist concerning the topic
memory and migration, a short bio and professional statement. This will be
visible for everyone the day the workshop starts.Using a beamer connected to
the
internet computer in the Triskel artscentre.People at home offcourse can log
in
as well.
3. People are able to follow the whole process of the works in progress by
the artists during the workshop by logging in on the site which will be updated
every day during the workshop.
4. The site gives the ( interested) people the opportunity to respond on the
workprocess and / or give specific opinions or questions to the artists of
their choice. A vivid dialog with an artist might be posibble.
5. During the workshop a research will be done by Ruud Lanfermeijer about
the way the artists work ,how they make choices and what they are, structure
their research and work, associate , and what kind of decisions does an idea
transpose to a piece of art.
6. The artists get some specific assignments to analyse their methods of
working and thinking.(associations in language, form, color , sound.)
7. During the workshop Trish Edelstein and Ruud Lanfermeijer will act as
curators for an exhibition in the Triskel artscentre " Crossing waters
and
borders down memory lane". The exhibition will evolve during the workshop.
It shows
a work in progress but at the end of the workshop will express the variety of
thoughts , links , opinions, images , sounds which came up during this mondial
creative thinktank on the subject of memory and migration in a variety of
disciplines.
8. The research of Ruud Lanfermeijer will be used to find the variables for
the programming of a theatrical searching machine concerning memory and
migration. The input of the artists will be used as a mental mapping. Text ,
images
, sound , film etc where the artists were working on are part of the data that
are used within the searching machine.
9. To solve the language problem the machine will initially translate every
input to esperanto. A forgotten language.
10. For the output there will be a translator mode to various kinds of
languages.
The machine responds to voice , movement and sound with text ,film , sound ,
images. The user is able to improvise and get a dialog / duet with the
machine. Or use it as a machine to develop new stories , plays . pieces of art
etc.
